Palimpset – Variations
London, UK. (2020)

Palimpset – Variations is a collection of photographs of the paint covering the side panels of the Westbourne Bridge Terrace, in London.

In their desire to suppress graffiti, council workers applied patterns of colour and created a variation of designs reminiscent of abstract expressionism.
The variety of colour, shapes, sizes and placements conveyed a dynamic and rhythmic structure evocative of a musical symphony or a language such as the Morse code.

The work acknowledges and celebrates this unexpected output.
Through the presentation and circulation of those images, the original intent of censorship has turned into an artistic and playful output.
